WE ARE THE AMERICAN MÉTIS ABORIGINAL ASSOCIATION CHURCH OF THE MÉTIS TRIBE, INC.
We are incorporated as a not-for-profit, non-denominational church. Religion is the proprietary of the heart of each individual member of the Association. Belief is therefore Sacred Ground upon which no one treads. AMAA never requires anyone to change their beliefs or spiritual path to be a member. We are Métis, mixed blood, also means mixed belief.
Our Articles of Incorporation read:
- To provide spiritual leadership for aboriginal people of mixed blood decent. Historically, the Métis being warm, caring and friendly people, we welcome friends and other Native American cultures to worship with us.
- To educate and ordain clergy in ancient and modern spiritual beliefs of who with the use and possession of sacred objects required in traditional Métis religious practices.
- To conduct ceremonies, dances, pow-wows, weddings, funeral in accordance with Métis culture and with the U.S. Public Law #95-341 Aug. 11, 1978 American Indian Religious Freedom 42 USC 1996 Jay Treaty-1794 (1) between U.S. and Canada.
